A grand vintage Albert chain made in Birmingham in the late 20th century. It consists of rose gold curb links which are stamped “375” for 9ct and graduate in size toward the middle.

Albert chains were named after Prince Albert and were used by wealthy Victorian gentlemen to secure a pocket watch by attaching it via the T-bar to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. They later became a popular accessory for women as well and converted into beautiful necklaces and bracelets.      

It’s a good solid chain and weighs 40.8 grams in total. It’s fitted with two claw clasps at the end and a T-bar at the bottom which is complete with the maker’s initials and Birmingham hallmarks.
